This unit examines advanced techniques for recording and producing within the virtual studio environment. Specific areas covered include digital audio theory, methods for recording and arranging a composition, and approaches to mixing and mastering. Using Cubase as a central recording framework, students will create original audio works, gaining both a practical and theoretical understanding of the issues involved in recording within virtual studio environments.
This unit aims to extend students' existing experience with virtual studio technology by exploring advanced recording and production techniques. Furthermore, by providing an introduction to the theoretical aspects of digital audio and software management, students will obtain a knowledge base which may be applied in many areas of music production. By applying the skills learned in this unit, students will be able to independently undertake a complete recording project from start to finish.
